KP - Little Trip Home

(short trip long post)

should have blog bout this weeks ago
anyway, i had a short trip home earlier this month

*too bad, all the pic captured are too blur :( time to get a dslr

my flight from kl was delayed 3hrs ++ @_@ din know that flight delay can be such a mental challenge. luckily, my bro was flying with me, for at least i have a companion with me :)

when i first touch down Kuching, my first and foremost thirst was KOLO MEE & TEH C PENG!
my thirst was not fulfilled that very night because dad decided to celebrate my brother's belated birthday! oh well, a family dinner instead. it was a delightful dinner of course. i could tell how happy it was to my dad for us to gather for a dinner. since that we all had left Kuching for a while now, pursuing own career, my parent must have felt lonely.

day 2 was basically the main reason for us to be back in KCH. it was Qing Ming. the night before, we plan to push off around 7am so that my eldest bro will not have to rush for his afternoon flight back to SG. By the time I first opened my eyes that very morning, it was a heavy pour. My dad came knocked on my doors around 8am saying that we'll have to wait till the rain stop. And so, I went into lazy-ing mode rolling on my bed like nobody's business. At about 9am, we all got hungry and pushed off for breakfast at A1 coffee shop, BDC. I had Kueh Chap and my TCP! My Bros ordered funky tasting laksa and poppiah. Dad had overpriced mee-suah. I spotted a person I least expected, Shirley Brown, my college so-call-mate, sitting opposite me. Being polite, I excused myself from my table, and went over to greet her. So, I guess she too, was finding it hard to survive in this cruel-real-corporate-world and making a U-turn back to college, as a tutor. The rain had finally tamed to just mild drizzled. My dad suggested we make a move and proceed to perform our grave duty at the earliest possible.

That evening, I went out with Shi Li. I had 3, almost 4 meals! First stop was Malak Mien at Life Cafe. It has been a memorable place. It reminisce me back to the day where I was still in blue pinaform and life was carefree. Well, life isn't that bad today, minus the stress from watching the clock ticking away.

Next, just down the aisle, we sat comfortably and ordered fried chicken wings and chicken butts (i forgot the jargon so just stick with chicken butts) at Alladin Cafe ;) That simple meal really 'kicked' plus the comment from the counter uncle that I'll never forget, "che duo yi dian, quai gau zhan da" LoL!

My tummy meter was showing half empty but Shi Li had to surrender already. I couldn't think of any where else to go except for Kenyalang! It like THE place to be. Not just your average pirate bay, but it is also another food heaven. Kueh Chap, banana fritters, ang tao chien luk, cha kueh, you name it! it's all 'top-notch' ~yum yum~

Kenyalang was not the last stop of course, it has to be 3rd mile. this time, it's not for food since my tummy meter almost exploded. We stop by our favorite shop, Momo toys or sorts. Before we called it a night, I got my Kakashi replaced with Rukia from Bleach.

so much for Food for day 2, more to come on day 3. i slept in till pretty late that morning. I haven't been sleeping that much. anyway, Shi Li had passed me a dozen of dvd with Anime the night before. Gosh! I haven't watched one since my college 2nd year. So much to catch up and so little time to go! I boot up my laptop and drown myself into another dimension. My 2nd bro barged in and threw a packet of food onto my bed. *IGNORED* Hang on, the familiar scent coming from the package sucked me out of my anime dimension. it was KOLO MEE!!! YUM YUM~~

the clock shows 7.30pm and it's time for a date with Jason and Ed. Alright, another heavy down pour which almost made me canceled the date. anyway, Jason came to pick me and we went to hui sing to pick up some dinner. we tapao ketchup mee, ketchup kueh tiaw, taugeh mee, and pork satay! It was great to gather again with buddies like Ed, and Jason (and of course Syl). So much comfort and as if, life is carefree again. How i wish we could all sit down like this every now and then. We were chatting and talking like we used to. It good to know that Jason has been building up his career here in Kuching, something that I could have done but... I do have a slight regret. As for Ed, I wish you all the best with your studies. And I promise you that I will come back to Kuching for your graduation! We are so gonna P-A-R-T-A-Y!

day 4, it's time to say goodbye again.
I dragged my dad to have laksa at Abell Road. It was his first time there. My dad is the kind of person who eats breakfast at the same place (and almost the same time) like a routine. After the morning breakfast, I went home and start packing. It was mum and dad who sent me to airport. I just wish to stay a little longer. I felt like there are so much more that i haven't done. I checked in and only to find out that my flight has delayed for another hour. 60mins seems short to me so i help myself into the boarding area. After 30mins of waiting, there was an announcement another 60mins delay to add up to the 60mins delay. Passengers from the same flight as I am walk to the counter and demanded for a flight transfer. Some manage it some didn't. I couldn't get transfer due to my checked in luggage. bump! Luckily i have my laptop with me. I walk all the way to the other end and help myself with a large cup of cinnamon coffee. Not too bad.

Another 5mins to boarding time and yet no sign of any aircraft nearing to the boarding gate. I went to ask the staff on duty and he told me softly, "the flight is on the way ma'am, expecting to arrive in another 30 mins." Bummers! Cant they tell the exact time? grr...

anyway, i left Kuching around 7pm. and i will definitely be back here soon. soon enough. 30th April. mark your calendar :P
